Folks, it’s been a while. A little over a year I believe and I know I vanished without a word to say otherwise from both my blogs. I want to explain why and where I went before I catch you up on what I have planned, so if you’ll excuse me we’re going to have some Real Talk.
Sims 4: Amos Adoption Challenge Part 1: Introductions
The Adoption Challenge is a player-made challenge for the Sims 4 that tasks you to start with a founding family and work your way to having ten generations of the same family line, with the catch that you have to adopt all the children. Additionally, every generation that passes you have to adopt more children, so your founders will adopt two children and much like a Legacy one of them will become the Heir of the second generation. They will have to adopt three children and so on until you hit ten generations. By the time you get to the tenth generation you will be struggling with space and no doubt all sorts of other issues. So lets see how it goes!
Shit I Should Care About: Midsummer Festival
Alright you two-week-long-tedious pond scum event, let’s do this.
This is far from my favourite holiday, though I think my love for nearly ALL the holiday events died somewhere over the course of getting the achievement [What A Long Strange Trip It’s Been], which was to collect all the achievements for every event. For a pink dragon reward. I love my pink dwagon dearly, it has a theme tune as my guildies will cringingly attest to. But I lost my love for these events, this one is one of the ones I like least though it is far from the worst. If you are currently trying to complete the Meta Achievement to earn a Pink Dwagon all of your own, my commiserations to you brave, unfortunate soul. If not, Good News! You can avoid all of this entirely! I’m going to break it down for you either way, and by break it down I mean something that is closer to a rant wrestling with a rage after both have been drinking heavily. Lower your expectations, people. Nope, lower than that.

Getting Started with World of Warcraft
So you are interested in playing. Perhaps you have even started it up and logged in. You may find yourself suffering one of two things; Overwhelmed at the sheer blinding amount of content, stuff and things to be doing or needing doing. Or Underwhelmed having expected all of that all at once and logged in to find a blank toon and a sleepy starter area. Neither is incorrect and after having recently has a friend join this game for the first time I realised how blinding the experience might be as this game is so old now it has a –decade- of content heaped on there to wade through. So in an attempt to shine a light and offer some guidance to those folk, purely from a game-play stance here is my version of a Quickstart Guide
Beyond Basics is a series of posts that delve into different aspects of roleplay beyond the basics of character creation within an MMO setting. For our purposes, this setting is World of Warcraft but it can be useful in others too. This series will look at things like plots, storylines, and conversations. As well as the world and community around you as a player in an MMO. Explaining how you can best make use of that; and how it might differ from roleplay on tabletop games for example. You can find the rest of the series here: Beyond Basics Series Index [Read more…]
