Routines For Making Gold
Making a personal Goldmaking Routine is something that is difficult to set a generic formula for as it is going to differ from person to person regardless. But in this post I’m going to try and break down the process of creating a routine so that you can hopefully make up one for yourself that works best for you. I will also share mine as an example and reference. So let’s get to it! If you would rather watch this in video format you can do that here:
Why Have A Routine?
Why would you have a set routine for gold making? Isn’t that a bit much? A bit too much like homework for a game? It can be, and it might not be for everyone. Some folks might be the sort of people that just jump into things when they have time. But I am not. If I don’t have a plan if I don’t have a list of things to do I will do nothing. Not a thing. I need to keep myself directed. So I have made myself a gold making routine and daily list of gold making chores to keep myself on track. If you are the same sort of person that gets easily waylaid or distracted this might work for you too.
Limiting Factors
What is going to be your limiting factor? Time? How much time are you willing to give to making gold? I’m a roleplayer, that takes a lot of time so I’m only willing to spend an hour, maybe two a day making gold. I usually do this during lunchtime when my little is napping. This is often streamed, if you haven’t followed me on Twitch yet you can here! This leaves my evenings free for roleplay pursuits.
How much time do you have? Do you have a lot of alts and at what levels? How many professions do you have levelled? Some of these things are things you can improve and change over time but for now, to get you started just lay out what you have available right now.

Aims and Goals
What are you trying to avieve? They say the man that doesn’t know where he is going will get nowhere. So it’s a good idea to know what you are aiming for. What do you want the gold for and how much do you want? How much would be a comfortable sitting amount for you? How much would you like to make a day?
If you are trying to pay for your token on EU servers at the moment that’s about 350k. Broken down into the four weeks of the month that comes to about 88k a week which is about 12.5k a day. Which might seem like a lot but it can be done without too much trouble really.
Work out roughly where you want to be at. And then dismiss that number. Because some days you might sell a BOE for 90k and others you might scrap up 2k. So don’t worry about what you have incoming, but it’s useful to know what you are aiming for and where you are landing on the scale. It will help you adjust things and find other things that might work better down the time.
Process
So you know what you have. You know what you want. Now we need to work out how to get there. Lay out a list of the days of the week that you play and/or have time to play and do some goldmaking. Now fill those time slots in with things you can do to make gold.
If you have max level alts you can start with Order Hall mission tables for gold missions, doing that on a handful of alts can clock up to almost 10 a day by itself. There is also Garrison, while the gold missions have been removed from them you can get items from them that sell very well still today, Orge Cashes and Medallions of the Legion to name two. They sell for 10-20k each. Again doing that on a handful of alts takes a few minutes and can pay off.
You can also block in time to do some crafting. If you don’t have TSM you should grab it and I will do a specific Crafting With TSM guide soon. If you already have crafting groups sorted pull up a list of profitable crafts and make as many as you can. I can make 20-30k the day after I restock Enchanting, crafting can also be work it. Personally I have one profession planned for each day of the week to break it up a bit.
If you are not into crafting then you could try some farming. You can find a ton of great spots to farm on YouTube. Personally I have made a list of farms of materials that I need for crafts I make a lot, to supply myself and cut down on the crafting cost. Really you can just choose whatever suits your playstyle and preference. Materials sell faster but crafts sell for more.
You can also unlock and use your Pandaren farms still. You can grow golden lotus using Enigma Seeds and Ghost Iron and Trillium using Snakeroot Seeds, and both of these can be used in useful crafts or simply sold as raw materials for popular crafts.

Example Time!
To me the limits are time, I only want to spend an hour or two tops doing gold making bits and pieces, and to do it I have a collective 13 characters on horde side above level 100 across two accounts that I can use. But I do not have everything unlocked and updated for all of them. I also have at least one toon with each of the various crafting professions, and I have multiple Alchemists for transmutes. I have farms and garrisons on most of them.
Now I tried doing all the farms and garrisons every day and I CAN do that but its draining and it ended up putting me off and I would end up doing none of them at all. The missions I am looking out for only reset weekly too, and the Resources cache takes three days to fill up. So I divided all the characters into two piles. Set 1 and Set 2. And one day I will do farms and garrisons on all the characters in Set 1 and the next day i will do Set 2.
Then I wrote out a list of all the days of the week, as I can play for a bit every day usually. And I noted in which characters I was doing farms and Garrisons on each day as decided by their sets. I also made a note of which characters had Instant Complete order hall perks for a free WQ every day. I have five of the six; Paladin, Warrior, Warlock, Death Knight, Mage, Demon Hunter. I made a note to remind myself to do those. I also made a note of the characters that had cooldowns I wanted to do on a daily basis.
Then I divided out my professions one to each day of the week as well, as a reminder to restock that profession at least once a week. And I threw in a little reminder to pick up the Egg from the Basin in Northrend as I am still trying to farm the Green Proto-Drake.
In Action
So every day I now know at a glance to do my instant quests and who one, my cooldowns and who on, which profession to restock and which characters need their farms and garrisons cleared that day. I also wrote in two farms on each day, so in case I get the time, rather than wasting it wondering what to do I can jump straight into doing one of those farms for materials and things I use and sell a lot of.
In my last box, I made a note of other things I want to remind myself of on a more weekly basis. Like doing the pickpocketing weekly on my three rogues for 15k. Doing my ICC runs and checking the weekly for Timewalking bonus’ and so on. I’ve dropped a picture of my sheet below. I made this on Google Docs very simply and printed it out. Then I laminate it, punch the sections and string them together for a little daily flipbook of gold making chores.
Conclusions
In the end, a routine is something that has to work for your specific time and circumstances and if you don’t tailor it around those foundation posts then it will not work for you in the long run. If you want to get access to my routine via Google Sheets that you can then tailor to fit your needs you can do so by subscribing to our Twitch channel or on our Patreon at the Bronze level! Until then friends, good luck and have fun!
