Shit I Should Care about is a series of guides that don’t really fit into our usual themes of roleplay and gold making. At least not directly. It mostly acts as a home to guides on annual events and all that comes with them. You can find more posts on this theme here at the Shit I Should Care About Series Index.
What is the Love is in the Air!
This is a reflection of the real world holiday of valentines, and it doesn’t seem to hold too much depth or grounding in the lore or history of the game. Just as some more commercialized real world holidays don’t. The Official Blizzard website says this about the festival:
Love and adoration are in the air in the major cities of Azeroth… and in celebration of the occasion, you’re invited to share candy, perfume, and gifts with guards, townsfolk, and other players for special rewards.
Be cautious, as the season’s spreading joy seems to have nefarious undertones. Recently, a strange “love sickness” has clouded the hearts of many of Azeroth’s people – is this widespread incident simply an outbreak of amore, or will you and your fellow brave adventurers uncover a dark secret behind this plague of passion?
Vendor Loot From Love is in the Air!
This is where this one gets interesting. There is a bunch of loot from this festival but one of the items available has become infamous for it’s incredible low drop chance. But we’ll talk more on that one later. There is also a whole bunch of treats, candy and other little bits and bobs you can buy from from the seasonal vendors for Love Tokens. But we are mainly interested in the bigger items and collectables. So here they are;
Toys
- Romantic Picnic Basket – 10 Love Token
- Love Boat – 270 Love Token
- Sturdy Love Fool – 100 Love Token
- Peddlefeet’s Lovely Hearthstone – 150 Love Token
Cosmetics/Wearable
- Lovely Dress Box/ Dinner Suit Box – 20 Love Token
Mounts
- Swift Lovebird – 270 Love Token
Pets
- Lovebird Hatchling – 40 Love Token
- Truesilver Shafted Arrow (Perma-Peddle Pet) – 40 Love Token
Event Boss and Loot!
Once a day during the Love is in the Air festival a character over level 110 can defeat the event boss; Apothecary Hummel! He is a forsaken man teamed up with his two co-workers in Shadowfang Keep. You can use the LFG tool to find a group for this event boss quickly and easily. If you are a mount collector you are going to want to do this boss on every character you can every day of the event. Because His rarest drop is The Big Love Rocket. This one even I am still hunting for.
He drops a collection of necklaces that can be decent if you are gearing alts. But primarily what people are after is the Heart-shaped Box. This has the chance to contain the following items;
- Forever-Lovely Rose – Cosmetic Head
- Vile Fumigator’s Mask – Cloth Head
- Toxic Wasteling – Pet
- The Heartbreaker – Toy
- Big Love Rocket – Mount
Questlines
There is also a few other quests and things you can do within Love is in the Air. One of the Dailies you can do for the Crown Company is to sample products and in return you get Love Tokens. There are three variations of this daily and they pick one a day. There is also the Crushing the Crown daily to defeat members of the company, these mobs will scale to your level. These dailies will only be unlocked after you do the main introduction quest line.
One of the best ways to get Love Tokens is by turning in charm bracelets to your faction leaders. You can give each of your four faction leaders one practlet a day for 20 Tokens. To make the bracelets you need to collect the charms. And to collect the charms you need to get a Charm Collectors Kit from Kwee Q in your capital city. With this in your bags you will gather the charms automatically while killing worthwhile enemies.
Lastly!
When it comes to making gold within the Love is in the Air festival, there is a few small things to keep an eye on. Since they made the dresses BoP items you can no longer collect those up for sale all year round so don’t worry about that or save your tokens for it like I foolishly did last year. Instead spend your tokens should you have them in excess on the mounts and pets available from the vendor.
And, of course, good luck to you if you are also going to be hunting the Big Love Rocket again this year! Let me know if it drops for you!
