Transmog items are in hot demand and will only get hotter in the next few weeks with Trial of Style coming up in August. So to help you farm up all the items you might be missing from your collection; I am here today to talk about useful addons for collecting Transmog! An addon is a small third party program that you can install into your game and it will change how certain things work or add additional useful things to your gameplay. I have spoken about good addons to use for roleplay previously but today we are going to focus on Transmog.
First of all however if you don’t have addons, or don’t know where or how to get them let’s get you sorted. You can get addons in several places but to keep it simple I get almost all of mine from Curse.com. If you go to their website you can download the Curse Client, which is not a Twitch App since they recently merged. That app is a small file that works on your desktop and will be super useful to you. It will allow you to search and install new addons without having to extract files and find folders.
It will also tell you when your addons need updated and let you update them with one click. I recommend grabbing it if you don’t already have it. Once you do you can search and install any of the following addons. You can even find the roleplay section on there and browse yourself.
Monars Wardrobe Helper

This neat little addon scans your transmog collection against a table of loot from instances and raids. Then generates a list of all items you are missing. You can browse an overview of how many items you are missing from each expansion, such as Cataclysm and Wrath. And below that it is broken down further to how many items you are missing in each raid. It gives you a percentage of completion for each category along with a direct number such as 6/10.
It gives you a clear idea of which expansions require the most attention to farm up. As such you will know where you are missing the most items. But the really neat thing about Monars Wardrobe Helper is that once you know which instance you want to run you can click the little ‘Create Mini-list’ button and then you can close the main screen of the addon and leave up a little non-obtrusive box. As seen on the far right in the screencap.
You can move this around your screen and drop it somewhere out of the way. It will tell you what loot you need on what version of the instance and from which boss. Each boss will show all the items you need to farm from them under their name. And when one drops for you the list will update automatically. If you just happen to be in an instance unexpectedly, you can click to grab a mini-list for your ‘current instance’ as well which is super useful on the go.
Transmog Tokens
A simple little addon that adds a note to the bottom of the tooltip of any item used as a token for armor. It will tell you how many appearances you are missing that can be bought with that token. A quick and easy way of knowing what tokens to keep and what to trash with farming transmog sets. As seen on the image on the right the coloured text makes it easy to spot. And not only does it tell you how many appearances you need from that item, it also tells you the NPC Vendor you need to see to redeem it. Super useful.
Transmog Craftsman
This one lets you add a separate search to your own professions tab that will allow you to search by uncollected. This will allow you to run a search within your professions for any of the items that you can make that you have not yet collected. This is useful to get any of those easy-to-forget patterns from old crafts ticked off. But maybe not an addon you need to keep installed long term. Once you have run it and filled it out on all your crafting toons or different armour types you will no longer need it.
For example, if you run it on a Tailoring cloth wearer, you won’t need to do it on any other tailors or cloth classes as the Transmog wardrobe is cross account. This is less useful if, like me, you have some crafting professions on toons that do not use it. For example, my warlock is a blacksmith-tailor. While this will be useful to run through tailoring it will not be useful for blacksmithing as he cannot learn any of the plate crafts. Likewise with my Leatherworking Mage (Don’t ask).
Conclusions
When I installed all these addons I was horrified at how little transmog I have collected from these places. I don’t think there is a single expansion where I have more than 50% completed. As a roleplayer that has spent a lot of time farming pretty outfits long before the wardrobes or transmogs were a thing, this was a shock! So now I am trying to get my wardrobe filled up before the trial of Style launches, what about you? Do you have much still to collect?
