Deadwind Pass like many other zones is often overlooked. I often find that those of us who have been playing this game for so many years now are almost blind to the content and world around us. So by means of re-familiarizing roleplayers with the world around them we bring you this series of posts. We will also include a bit of lore and atmosphere with each location, along with images and any other little bits of information we can find for you.

Deadwind Pass Lore
Deadwind Pass was once part of the Kingdom of Stormwind, lying at the edge of the Redridge Mountains. It was once much like the surrounding area, with a thriving village and a mysterious tower built long ago by unknown people. That all changed when Medivh, the powerful wizard that was possessed by evil, moved into the tower and started to put his plans to open the Dark Portal into motion. That foul magic radiated out from Karazhan, killing the plants and blighting the land.
Nobody knows if it was Medivh himself, or the dangerous Black Riders who slaughtered the villagers but one thing is certain … their restless ghosts now haunt the ruins of their village. With the resurgence of the Legion, foul demons now crawl the ruins, performing the tasks set by their dread masters.
The Black Riders are said to have originated in Deadwind Pass.
Medivh himself claimed that the chasm was created by a massive explosion of magic that weakened the borders of reality around it, making it a nexus of power that somebody, the original builders of the tower, sought to use.
Atmosphere of Deadwind Pass
Above all, the tower of Kharazhan. Once beautiful, this ivory tower is a skeleton of its former glory. Seeped in magic and evil, it looms over the rest of the pass, glowering down malevolently at all who dare enter its domain. Dessicated trees reach up with clawing branches, their trunks twisted into shapes that resemble screaming mouths and terrified eyes.
Death lives here. The glowing, tormented spirits roam their places of death, moaning out their misery. The cackling laughter of imps mock them, echoing off the cold stone. Small beacons of light from fires do nothing to dispel the gloom.
Culture and Locals
Few dwell in this cursed place anymore. There is a small tribe of ogres, hostile to anybody who enters their sight. Spiders threaten anybody who would travel through the area as well. The Kirin Tor battle against the Legion presence around the twisted tower.
Small Spots and Pretty Props
There are quite a few places without hostiles in Deadwind Pass.
The cold, foul air that gives this place its name howls through the chasm like a live thing, shrieking past the dull rocks and stirring the dead soil. Grey clouds hang low and oppressive, shrouding the higher points of the surrounding hills with thick mist. Spiders crawl through the rocky passageways and hang from the stone arches, ready to drop on unsuspecting travellers and drag them into their webs.

Extras
There are also a few areas here that can only be reached by glitching; the most famous of these is the room of upside-down sinners, commonly believed to be an unused part of the Kharazhan raid. A huge underwater room contains corpses floating on chains.
