Introductions
Most gold making guides or blogs start with ‘’Chasing the Gold Cap’’ style updates. These guides are awesome; I read and have read many of them. However, I am working backward. The main reason for this is, purely and simply, I am not a hardcore AH fiend – much as my guildies and friends think I am. I don’t crunch numbers, I don’t perma-stalk the AH. Nor do I do cancel scans (shock and horror!), I don’t adamantly undercut. I don’t even bulk craft on anything close to a regular basis. Basically, I do it all wrong. I’m a scrub. My gold making style is super casual.
Yet I still hit gold cap and I’m a hair under my second million. Those game-time tokens on EU servers are costly beggars that put a serious dent in profits.
Hitting Gold Cap
I make a steady average of anything from 5000g to 20,000g a day with, quite honestly, VERY minimal effort. These posts will be, if anything, notes and loose suggestions for the very casual and very lazy players out there who just fancy turning a few extra coins without having to know the economy like the back of their hand.
I have been very slowly playing my way up the AH for over a year. I started with something in the region of 5 to 10 thousand gold on my main and worked from there. It takes a while to build up your capital, and it is true: the more gold you have the more you can make. But all of that will come in time. For now, here is my gold cap:

I ticked over the mark on the sale of a Buccaneers Vest for 6k. I only needed 4k at the time to hit the million so I mailed the buyer back 2k and a note of thanks. Then I sat and stared at that lovely number for ages, and realised I had to buy something! It’s like dinging at max, you have to DO something to celebrate, right? So I ran over to the AH and searched for my weakness: TGC pets and mounts.
The only ones on there were marked way about their usual market value, so I passed on that. I didn’t want to shell out the 107K for the Fancy Yak till I was at least 100k over the million mark. So in the end, I sent some to my JC to fund the first of those gross panther mounts. Oh how that Mount Count kills me. So… I bought fancy orbs. Yawn.

It got me thinking about how many people must be at the gold cap. As it really wasn’t hard, considering how lazily I did it. It was just slow. So I figured hitting gold cap was nowhere near as big a deal as it might once have been. I am certain there are a LOT of people at cap these days with the volume of help out there. But I was in LFR the other day turning a furious scarlet as I watched this take place in chat, totally distracting me from my already lamed DPS:
So I’m going to drop what lax and lazy tips I have on here. I’m just going to straight up share with you my dumb advice, And if you use it and it makes you gold? Great! I am also fully aware that you could use this to roll on my server and undercut my own markets. Knock yourself out. I don’t do this competitively, read up and see the fact that I don’t cancel scans. I don’t do anything competitively, and I have hit my cap once already so from this point it’s all gravy. And besides there are far bigger AH players on my realm than me and they might just eat you up. My aim is to help you make enough to if you wish to pay your subscription fee with game gold and save yourselves the real world cash.
